add LVM support to Guix System Distribution

a project by sleep_walker

LVM support for Guix System Distribution

With GNU Guix 0.8.1 and it's distribution there is still lack of LVM support. As I'm probably the only user of LVM, I need to hack support into initrd myself.

Gerrit CLI review tool

a project by iartarisi

Gerrit is used for code reviews by openstack and its related projects (e.g. chef cookbooks). The web interface is too slow when you get 100 changes to review each day. It would be nice to have a faster CLI. There are already some python client libraries available. I am thinking about either doing this as a standalone application with python and something like ncurses or an emacs/lighttable plugin. https://github.com/mapleoin/gerrit-el

indoor air quality sensor

a project by rsimai

Description

I noticed during home office times as well as with multiple people in one office how quickly air quality drops, which affects concentration and finally performance, as it causes tiredness and headache. I want a device that continuously measures the quality and reminds me in time to make adjustments to the airco (if available) or when to air the room, or take a break outside. Parameters to measure are at least temperature, humidity and CO2 level. The device should be stand-alone and potentially battery powered, with the option to connect to other devices such as PCs or smart phones through Wifi, Bluetooth, Serial, ...

Distributed FS for openQA

an invention by oholecek

For far too long openQA instances are crippled by insufficient I/O throughput when under heavy load. This results in incomplete and aborted tests prolonging new snapshots testing and also adding confusion into the release process. OpenQA itself doesn't require any exact technology for its remote workers, but so far we relied on NFS. This was fine for few workers, now with 50+ of them this stopped to be a viable route however. There are some custom made mitigations like rsyncing tests, assets and needles before the actual test job run, but this feels like reinventing the wheel to me.

Tool to write raw images to USB disks

a project by alarrosa

The idea would be to create a qt5/kde5 based utility that can use local raw images as well as download a list of sources from a remote site. The idea is to provide a user interface that can be used by any user as well as a user interface that can be used in kiosk mode for booths so that a visitor can put a usb pendrive in any usb slot, select the image he/she wants to write to it and get it written in parallel to other usb memories. https://github.com/openSUSE/imagewriter seems to be abandoned, so probably part of the backend will be reused and the user interface will be rewritten from scratch, but anyway this will be reconsidered at the first task in the project.

Dice - A light weight build service

a project by sax2

The idea is simple. Dice is a light weight build service for KIWI images with full control over the build power by the user. At SUSE we have the buildservice which is the full professional version of a build service for packages, images and also products. As a normal user I can provide input and I get some output but I have no control what happens with my data, when it's being processed and where it's being processed. That's by design and works great, thus not meant negatively. I'm a 100% fan of the buildservice
