Automate Haskell Packaging an invention by psimons We have various individual tools to automate parts of the Haskell packaging process, like `cabal-rpm`, but those tools aren't integrated into a fully automated system that keeps Haskell packages up-to-date with as little human intervention as possible. I would like to build that system. Stackage provides us with an accurate list of packages and versions that are known to work together well, and there are basically two flavors: the nightly snapshot (bleeding edge) and the LTS release (stable API). The former is appropriate for Tumbleweed, IMHO, and the latter is appropriate for stable releases like SLE or Leap. Now, we can use `cabal-rpm` to generate `spec` files automatically for all packages in a Stackage release and check them into OBS. The process does need some tweaking, however, because `cabal-rpm` generates spec files that don't always work well for SUSE. We could (a) branch `cabal-rpm` and add SUSE-specific know-how to remedy that issue or we could (b) maintain a set of patches that adapt the generated spec files to our needs. Add branding to DAPS and the suse-xsl-stylesheets a project by fsundermeyer DAPS is the tool used by the SUSE documentation team to generate HTML, ePUB, PDF, ... output of the SUSE manuals from DocBook XML sources. It uses the suse-xsl-stylesheets for this purpose. Currently three different suse-xsl-stylesheet brands exist: SUSE, DAPS, openSUSE. Branding is done by adjusting the xsl-stylesheets directly. It would be desirable to be able to easily change the branding, e.g. via a simple config file in the style of /etc/sysconfig files, since most people cannot hack XSLT. Home assistant that doesn't spy on you - developer's edition a project by DKarakasilis There are various home assistant solutions out there but all of them transfer your voice to some server for processing. This is a no-go for sane people although the technology is interesting and could be useful. There are various open source tools out there to achieve the same result but there is no turn key open source self hosted solution. The goal of this project is to implement a way to have a home assistant running locally - ideally with one command. The project that is closer to the desired result is Mycroft (https://mycroft.ai/). It is very easy to run the client side components using one docker command but their backend is running remotely. All the tools they use though are open source so it only needs one to do the work and package them in a nice little docker-compose file (https://mycroft-ai.gitbook.io/docs/about-mycroft-ai/faq#can-mycroft-run-completely-offline-can-i-self-host-everything). Generic retry command in openSUSE an invention by okurz Motivation When automating tasks often the requirement comes up to retry commands, for example when network connections are involved and commands do not return successfully immediately or if resources are temporarily not available. Sometimes a simple for-loop in bash is sufficient. Sometimes it is necessary to use additional waiting between retries, sometimes timeouts are desired. Getting all those combinations right can be tedious and error-prone so a generic "retry" command should be available in usual environments so we should provide a retry command to openSUSE distributions.
