Try implementing OMEMO encryption for Empathy

a project by tonghuix

It looks like OTR will never be implemented for Empathy. But two years after Snowden end-to-end encryption is really a basic requirement for every secure chat program. A few weeks ago I read about a promising protocol called OMEMO which seems to overcome all shortcomings of OTR and GnuPG with respect to instant messaging. This would be a option for Empathy to finally support end-to-end encryption.

OBS GitLab integration

a project by adrianSuSE

First part is to support automated builds on git pushes also with gitlab, similar to what we do already with github.com. This means OBS would get notificated in a save way to refetch sources and start build on each commit. Second part is to support automated branching when a pull request gets created. This allows CI similar to travis on pull requests.

Automatically guess changelog entries for Haskell packages from upstream

an invention by psimons

All our packages have a *.changes file and ideally that file would mention relevant changes from upstream, i.e. during version updates. Currently, we find that information manually when packaging Haskell software. This is unsatisfactory because of the sheer size of the package set and the massive number of updates we receive from Hackage. The packaging itself is completely automatic, but editing the *.changes files is not and this issue prevents us from shipping more packages in Tumbleweed and elsewhere. Now, during this Hackweek I'd like to write code that given two Haskell package versions old and new can determine the upstream changelog entries between those two and create a pleasantly formatted entry for the *.changes file that won't need any manual editing to pass the review team. Then I'd like to integrate this into cabal2obs, or maybe even cabal2spec.

web-based testing tracker for aquarist-labs's s3gw

a project by jluis

Project Description

Keeping a consolidated view of a project's progress is a non-trivial endeavor. There are far too many moving parts from its inception, such as planning, issue tracking, development, and testing. All the while one must keep track of some form of metrics to ensure that there's progress, and that the progress is happening in the right direction (or whatever is considered the right direction at the moment).

AuthStralia — (almost) stateless authorization ecosystem for a web age

an invention by kpimenov

AngularJS, Websockets, REST APIs for mobile apps, one-time links for emails — what’s the topmost complexity all those things share in common? It’s authentication. Authentication typically means sessions, and sessions are simply ubiquitous state for our stateless-by-design web.

Reanimate djmount

a project by mwilck

djmount is a neat idea - see UPnP/AV resources in your directly in the file system. Unfortunately the code hasn't been maintained for ~10y, and - at least for me - seems to by plagued by various bugs causing crashes and what not. There's currently no official openSUSE package. This project aims to pick up the code, fix bugs, and make the tool actually useful again. The code itself seems to be in quite a good shape, so this should be doable.

To make it easier to debug openQA and Cavil i want to build a plugin similar to the mod_status Apache module for the Mojolicious web framework. Figuring out how to combine HTTP and WebSockets should be interesting. If time permits i also want to make it look a little bit like the Minion Admin UI from my last HackWeek project.

Build kdump initrd without dracut

a project by ptesarik

Project Description

The kdump plumbing is implemented as a dracut module. The original intention was to reuse the logic that dracut uses to deal with storage and network, but it turns out that kdump needs are often very different, so a lot of time is spent on avoiding dracut features that are undesirable.
