libvirt TCK

a project by jfehlig

The libvirt TCK provides a framework for performing testing of the integration between libvirt drivers, the underlying virt hypervisor technology, related operating system services and system configuration. The idea (and name) is motivated by the Java TCK. Currently the libvirt TCK is not fully packaged for SUSE and the test suite itself contains a lot of Redhat-isms. Mike Latimer and Jim Fehlig will work on properly packaging libvirt TCK (it has a LOT of perl dependencies) and patching it to work better with SUSE virtualization hosts and SUSE guest operating systems. It has traditionally focused on the KVM hypervisor, so there might be some progress made to make it work better with Xen too.

REST API for QADB

a project by llipavsky

QADB is the database used to strore results of automated tests in SUSE QA. It only has web intrface, which is mostly just a better DB view. The goal of this project is to create the REST API to it, which can later be used to query for results from external tools (and maybe even later used by the frontend)

Orca: hunting cephalopods for fun and dinner

a project by LarsMB

Orcas are amazing animals. They are playful, intelligent, great swimmers, and very social. They also love to play with their food, hunting down their prey with advanced strategies - understanding where its prey hides, how it will try to escape, and how to overcome those tactics - and having a lot of fun doing so, before relentlessly tearing it apart, killing it, and eat it. Not necessarily in that order. Oh, and they have the right color scheme. This forces their prey to also improve and adapt more advanced strategies and tactics. In this arms race, both sides evolve and improve: the evolutionary pressure has made cephalopods highly intelligent, adaptable, and resilient. Unfortunately (for them), they are still very tasty. So we should exert more evolutionary pressure on individuals to help them stay alive as a species.

grab this: openSUSE beta test program and web application

a project by lnussel

openSUSE Leap 42.3 goes for a rolling release model with automated openQA tests. That covers only so much though. We need manual testing too. In previous releases a google document spread sheet was used to coordinate and track the efforts. That's probably not the best method anymore. Come up with ideas and a prototype of how manual testing could be guided, tracked, visualized for a rolling development distribution with volunteers testing.

Predictive test selection for SUSE Manager

an idea by jordimassaguerpla

I once had a bad dream. I started good, a sunny day. I had just fixed an issue and push it to my fork, in order to create a Pull Request. I was happy. It felt awesome to have found a fix so elegant. Two lines of code.

Uyuni test suite improvements

a project by dgedon

Project Description

Uyuni is the upstream community project from which the very popular SUSE Manager is derived. It uses its own QE test suite wirtten in Cucumber and Ruby. Currently the Uyuni test suite runs with Ruby 2.5.9 which is EOL since 2021. This is because the most current Ruby version for openSUSE Leap 15.4, which the test suite controller runs on, is still Ruby 2.5.9. Updating the Ruby version allows us to modernize the test suite code base and to use more recent Ruby gems that do not support the old Ruby version anymore.
