I have three hundred and eighty four openSUSE 12.1 DVDs. Given 12.1 went end of life almost ten years ago, it seems likely these DVDs are useless. Rather than toss them out I've decided to try to turn them into some form of art.

Things I have learned so far:
- Using a Dremel tool to cut up DVDs is slow and smells bad.
- Cutting DVDs with tin snips is easy, but has a tendency to sometimes warp the DVD pieces and/or cause them to delaminate. Scissors suffer less from these problems but require more physical effort.
- Spray paint smells bad (TBF I already knew that, but it's been a while, and one tends to forget how bad it smells).
- Fishing line in a complete PITA to tie knots in (I think my fingers are too big).
- Super glue only works on flat surfaces, it won't bridge gaps.
- You really want to have "Ignore page margins" turned off and "Draw crop marks" turned on when printing multiple pages from GIMP that you want to stick together.
- Being creative in real life is significantly more annoying than being creative on a computer.
