People do photos everywhere, and share them via social networks. some like it, some also really not.

Social networks arouse suspicion to do face recognition on posted photos and that is the point where it really becomes scary.

It is possible to make it substantially harder for the face recognition alogrithms to detect faces on an image. That is done by filtering the image and modify it in a way that disturbs the algorithms but is not visible for a human looking at the image.

Maybe that can be done with open source tools? Anybody up to investigate?

There has been a radio feature about a scientific work about that, but I can not find a pointer any more unfortunately.
