The future of systems management

a project by j_renner

A new web UI for saltstack, possibly the future of systems management. The official salt UI halite is now officially retired and saltpad is still very young and in alpha state. In addition to the creation of a new frontend to salt, the goal could be to work towards a full replacement for existing systems management solutions like spacewalk, including the migration (minionification) of systems from there.

openQA web UI improvements

a project by asmorodskyi

  1. currently when you navigate to Test Results page - it will load everything before show you the page. I plan to change this model into "load on demand" approach
  2. Test Details page currently show you thumbnails for all modules. Want to add expand/collapse functionality for thumbnails - by default you will not see them for passed modules. But you will have ability to expand them. Also I will add "Expand All"/"Collapse All"

geekos.prv.suse.net employee finder

an invention by hennevogel

Mission: Our company org chart consists mostly of teams + their project managers. teams.suse.com is an application that gives an overview about the various SUSE team resources like org-chart, office locations, mission descriptions, links to team pages/blogs etc. It should combine the various data sources that are already there (eguide, floor, externaltools etc.) and provide a way to enrich this data.

Clean up the Uyuni frontend stack

a project by j_renner

Many of the Uyuni / SUSE Manager web UIs are still based on the no longer maintained Struts framework (version 1.2!) and implemented as JSP pages, while we added newer features based on the Spark framework and React. For me there is a vision of using only one technology stack (especially just one web framework, frontend framework and template engine) eventually, so it is about time to get rid of the old stack. While this is surely a huge effort, why not start with a new login page and then go from there rewriting other pages one by one? Things to look at in particular:

SUSE Manager - self sufficient frontend server

an invention by LuNeves

Explore the possibility to have a self sufficient frontend server running locally. This server would compile all the frontend code and act as a proxy/middleware pointing either for a dev ref-server or to a local SUMA instance. This way would be possible to do modifications in frontend even without having a SUMA server running locally. http://imagebin.suse.de/2542/img

Suse Manager - SPA

a project by LuNeves

The experience while navigating throughout the UI of Suse Manager it's not that nice. Whenever we navigate to a new page, the whole page gets refreshed and recreated, even when half of it didn't change a thing, for instance, the menu, topbar, and the notifications WebSocket connection, which in my opinion doesn't provide a smooth experience. This project has the goal to test out an automatic way to transform the Suse Manager UI into a Single Page Application.

A Open Source Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) for General Aviation pilot

a project by tonghuix

Instruction

  • What is General Aviation? General aviation is the name or term given to all civil aviation aircraft operations with the exception of commercial air transport (CAT) or aerial work (AW). They are flight activities not involving commercial air transportation of passengers, cargo or mail for remuneration or hire, or an aerial work operation such as agriculture, construction, photography, surveying, observation and patrol, search and rescue, aerial advertisement, etc. It covers certain commercial and private flights that can be carried out under both visual flight (VFR) and instrument flight (IFR) rules, such as light aircraft, business and private jets or helicopters. General aviation thus represents the 'private transport' component of aviation. (Quoted from Wikipedia)

A React-based alternative to our beloved bug/issue tracker finglonger

a project by avshiliaev

Project Description

Since we use different systems to report bugs (Bugzilla) and track their fixes (GitHub), we have a dedicated tool to keep our boards in sync and up-to-date between those two. The tool we use today is called finglonger and it's written in clojure which makes it rather difficult to maintain and expand.
