Ideas about local community involvement

a project by vsvecova

The plan is to gather ideas about how SUSE can become a more integral part of the local tech community scene (in PRG, NUE, or other locations). As a person who has been involved in educating women about tech for some time, I am thinking of introductory workshops and meetups, aimed not necessarily only at female audience.

build 32bit packages for x86_64 with better march/mtune

an idea by sleep_walker

32bit packages for x86_64 are generated from i586 packages which are meant to be run on ancient CPUs. But we could have better expectations for 32bit packages as they're installed on x86_64 system. Building 32bit packages with better march/mtune could help with the performance of 32bit only packages like Steam.

Make "salt-toaster" available to be used outside SUSE

a project by PSuarezHernandez

The salt-toaster (https://github.com/openSUSE/salt-toaster) is a tool created and developed by SUSE employees that we've been using for testing Salt since few years ago. This tool uses pytest in combination with Docker containers to allow testing the multiple versions of the Salt codebase and as well as Salt packages across multiple distributions.

Run and manage your Ansible cluster using Salt!

a project by PSuarezHernandez

At SUSE we've implemented a module on Salt called ansiblegate which allows to run and manage your Ansible clusters using Salt. This a very powerful module that bring lot of value to Salt when the users are planning on migrating or starting to use Salt and they already have an existing Ansible infrastructure.
