Description

The plan is to create a rubik's cube with a QR code on each side that makes sense even when scrambled.

Goals

Write a QR code generator that generates 6 codes at the same time to put on a rubik's cube, so that (if possible) even when scrambled it always stays a valid QR code that makes sense. Explore if there is a combination of codes that make sense in every configuration of the cube

Resources

There is already a similar project out there (but without the scrambling): https://altsoph.com/projects/qrcube/ And even a generator for a digital cube where every side is a valid QR code: https://github.com/altsoph/QR-dice A project about putting pictures in QR codes: https://research.swtch.com/qart

Results

After some research about the structure and encoding of QR codes my conclusion is that this Project is likely impossible to complete. The main reason for this is the required minimum of 7% of the QR code being reserved for error correcting, which is also positioned in the code in a way that it will be scrambled into at least 3 parts. During this week I didn't manage to produce codes where significant parts could be interchanged without breaking the whole QR code.
