A introduction video on Bilibili in Chinese
Project Description
screenkey is a popular project for streamers or tutorial recorders because it can make your typing visual on screen, but it only works under X11, not Wayland because it uses X11 functions to get keyboard event.
This program, instead, reads key events via libinput directly, and then put it on screen, so it will not depend on X11 or special Wayland Compositors and will work across them.
Goal for this Hackweek
- Solve issues (https://github.com/AlynxZhou/showmethekey/issues/2).
- Some programs, like gparted, can run as root without asking for password if user is in some special group, this can be done via polkit and this program should also support this.
- More desktop specification metadata, like what I added for FlipClock (https://github.com/AlynxZhou/flipclock/commit/577c760dee02d789c76ee840d4acf1272dd93aed and https://github.com/AlynxZhou/flipclock/commit/815cf821380021be92228b86115294d2ffbb9acf.
- Update to GTK4 (maybe).
