Description

This project aims to deploy an app in React code, created with Gemini Canvas, onto our SUSEverse (Google Sites environment). The app allows individuals to self-assess against our core competencies, depending on their career level, and generate personalized development plans. The core Hack Week challenge is to find and document a secure, technical solution for reliably embedding this web application within the constraints of Google Sites and within our IT guiding rules.

Goals

• Build optimization: Create an optimized production build of the app for efficient loading.
• PoC deployment: Successfully embed and run a Proof of Concept (PoC) on a test SUSEverse page.
• Data validation: Confirm secure read/write operations with the existing Firestore backend.
• Documentation: Create a clear guide for future maintenance, updates, and redeployment and create a guide for any other app created with Gemini and that could be relevant to the whole organisation.

Resources

• Code: Existing React-based Career Framework application (will be provided)
• IT guidelines and inputs on the deployment of such app on the SUSEverse. (will be provided)
• Skills: React, JavaScript, Static Hosting/Deployment, iFrame/Embedding techniques.
• Access: Development access to a Google Site/SUSEverse page.
• Infrastructure: Knowledge of the existing Firebase/Firestore setup.

Deliverables

1. Deployment Artifacts: Optimized production files (HTML, CSS, JS).
2. Working PoC Link: A live URL to the embedded application on a test SUSEverse page.
3. Deployment Guide (DEPLOYMENT.md): Step-by-step documentation of the hosting and embedding solution.
4. Presentation: A short demonstration of the working embedded tool.

Expected outcomes

• More user-friendly tool for the Career Framework: Deliver a visible, functional tool that provides immediate value to employees across the company.
• Help define career development actions
