SUSE has lots of information in a jungle of tools within the company network. We want to create a platform to extract and refine (distil) the available information and display it in a meaningful manner. The overarching goal is to make available data more accessible.

The initial idea sparked in a Knowledge management workshop for the SUSE Documentation Team. The Lunch & Learn held on 16th Feb 2017 will be a preparation for the hack week project. At the Lunch & Learn we're going to collect already existing tools and ideas and hopefully prepare a smaller subset of goals for the hack week.

The Hackweek project is about getting Distillery started. Lots of buzzwords can be attributed, from data mining to "making lots of our information/documentation/TIDs/RNs SEO and Google-findable, use machine learning and AI algorithms, modern search engines, indexers and much more. But that's not what is intended at the start: On day one we want to clarify where we want to go first, whose issues might be tackled most easily and first.
