Description

This project undertakes to integrate SUSE terminology from TermWeb into commonly used writing and collaboration tools such as Google Docs, LibreOffice Writer, and AI assistants like Gemini. The goal is to streamline consistent terminology usage across documentation workflows and improve authoring efficiency by providing real-time term validation and suggestions.

Collaboration & Required Skills

Looking for contributors with experience in: - Google Docs, LibreOffice, Gemini - Working with terminology systems, dictionary formats, or linguistic processing

  • Any prior internal projects or prototypes related to terminology or writing tools

Results

During HackWeek, we started exploring the integration of the TermWeb terminology into Google Docs, LibreOffice, Gemini, the Articulate localization tool and the Google extensions StyleGuard pro App and ES - Custom Dictionary builder. We engaged our contacts at Google, Articulate and internal teams to clarify integration possibilities. Early research confirmed several technical constraints (such as limited bulk import options) and highlighted potential paths such as a LibreOffice extension and external spell-checking solutions. The project remains ongoing, and we are now waiting for feedback from the contacted teams to determine the most viable integration approach for the next phase.

        Thanks a lot for your kind offer! We actually already have an extensive terminology database (almost 2,300 approved terms by now). With this project, we want to investigate how we can integrate this data into other writing tools used at SUSE.
