VOVO is a server-client architecture to determine current abuild load on devel-network machines. The goal is to trigger machines on and off depending on build power. It is an attempt to reduce power consumption.

Current status:

  • written in python
  • VOVO client
    • provides current load
    • almost done
  • VOVO server
    • runs as a daemon
    • calculates overall abuild load and triggers machines on/off via Orthos
    • Email notification

Ideas:

  • trying to be as much flexible and independent as possible ("standalone" - no Orthos mandatory)
  • using Bottle framework to interact with daemon
  • using a lightweight database
  • graphical score
  • TDD?
  • move project to github
  • ...
