Project Description

Have you ever thought of an item you wanted to buy, but did not know where to look? Do you also prefer shopping in your area, from local businesses, rather than going full e-commerce?

The idea here is to research feasibility of, and brainstorm ideas around, a (set of) OSS tool(s) that would allow:

  • store staff to display their inventory (or parts thereof) online, without needing to be tech-savvy and with control over the data they share
  • prospective buyers to find where to get a given item (bicycle accessory, soy sauce, screwdriver, you name it) in their area

Goal for this Hackweek

Get a clearer idea of what would make sense in terms of complexity vs usefulness for all involved parties:

  • What would it take for a store to easily index (subsets of) their products?
  • What would a MVP look like for customers?

Feel free to share your ideas!
