Project Description

Fake Spending is a browser based game project focused on virtual money spending and basic money awareness. The idea is to let users set a custom amount of money and spend it in a virtual store that includes products ranging from low price items to very high value purchases. The main focus of this Hack Week project is to explore how user progress, saved game state, and replayability can be improved. I want to work on allowing users to store their game progress, revisit past spending decisions, and possibly compare different spending scenarios over time. This is not about real payments, only learning and fun through simulation. Play here

Goals

By the end of this Hack Week, my goal is to design and prototype a system where users can save their game state locally or through a simple backend. I also want to improve the game structure so players can replay scenarios, test different budgets, and better understand how fast money is spent when choices are not planned. Another goal is to keep everything lightweight, fast, and accessible without downloads.

Resources

  • The project is based on a simple web stack using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Game logic and ideas come from existing Fake Spending gameplay experiments and user feedback.
  • Any documentation, mockups, or updates will be shared in the project page during Hack Week.
