Description

SUSE SecureUp! is a multifaceted hackweek project aimed at significantly increasing cybersecurity and privacy awareness both within SUSE and amongst our external stakeholders (customers and potential future employees). This will be achieved through targeted initiatives focused on education, engagement, and skill development, with an emphasis on the interconnectedness of security and privacy in today's digital landscape.

Goals

External Awareness:

• Establish a "SUSE Secure Campus" partnership with universities to deliver cybersecurity and privacy education, creating a pipeline for future talent.
• Develop a "SUSE Security & Privacy Hub" - a centralized online resource for SUSE customers containing security advisories, privacy best practices, educational materials, and relevant legal/regulatory updates.
• Increase SUSE's visibility as a cybersecurity and privacy leader through webinars, workshops, and potentially free security and privacy assessments for customers.

Internal Awareness:

• Create engaging and interactive cybersecurity and privacy training modules for SUSE staff, incorporating gamification, real-world scenarios, and data protection principles.
• Execute a Cybersecurity & Privacy Awareness Month campaign with daily security tips, privacy advice, phishing simulations, and expert talks to keep both cybersecurity and privacy top-of-mind for all employees.

Resources

Personnel:

• Cybersecurity and privacy experts to provide expertise, develop training materials, and conduct workshops/assessments.
• HR representatives to assist with the university partnership and trainee program development.
• Marketing/communications team members to support customer outreach and promote the "SUSE Security & Privacy Hub."
• Instructional designers/eLearning developers to create engaging training modules.
• Legal team members to provide guidance on privacy regulations and best practices.

Technology:

• Online platforms for hosting the "SUSE Security & Privacy Hub" and training modules (e.g., SUSE website, learning management system).
• Collaboration tools for communication and project management.
