Project Description
The idea is to create a DIY throttle quadrant for flight simulators like MSFS or X-plane. First part is CAD modelling the enclosure and parts of the mechanism. This is mostly done in my free time. During this hackweek I want to focus on electronics and coding, namely creating a HID device recognized by OS as such. It will be my first contact with arduino and C++ (I think ?) language.
Functions I want to incorporate:
- two engine throttle with option to switch into single engine mode
- speedbreak / parking break
- trim wheel
- flaps
- engine switches
- landing gear switch
- optionally mess around with 12864 display I have lying around
- optionally adding two rumble motors salvaged from an old gamepad
Goal for this Hackweek
- create simple HID device recognized by OS and simulator
- start with a simple switch like landing gear
- add potentiometer based trottles
- continue adding remaining switches, levers, whatever
