Logos Competition: openSUSE, Tumbleweed, Leap, Slowroll and Kalpa

The openSUSE Community is considering a new, distinct openSUSE logo to represent the project as well as four new logos for the following openSUSE distributions; Tumbleweed, Leap, Slowroll and Kalpa. There have been discussions of a new openSUSE logo over the years, but the timing to transition to a new logo wasn’t ideal, until now.

Competition Dates

The competition will run from Nov. 1 - Nov. 22. This happens during HackWeek, so people can work on this if they would like.

Create some logos that unify the brand

The intent of the competition is to have the logo designs visualize a unified brand. There is a desire for all the logos together to show a cohesive brand identity for openSUSE and its distributions. Logos like logos like Aeon, MicroOS and Leap Micro showcase a similar type of design to aim for. There are designed with simple shapes and lines for uniqueness and interest; typically as empty outlines, although the possibility of using fill is not excluded.

Mention some time slot, otherwise it will be quite tricky to catch up :)

After the release engineer meeting on Wednesday, we can meet in meet.opensuse.org/logocontest for 30 minutes at 11:00 CET to discuss the topic. There are several that are submitted. I can go over the plans for what will follow after Nov. 22.
