Project Description

Improve error handling of the /search API endpoints of OBS.

Research use cases of /search API requests where error messages are returned, and then improve and fix the error messages returned.

Goal for this Hackweek

  • Fix issue #13657.
  • Refactor xpath parser, search controller, and tests.

Resources

  • The /search endpoints in the new OBS API documentation: https://build.opensuse.org/apidocs-new/#/Search

Recipes catalog and calculator in Rails 8 by gfilippetti

My wife needs a website to catalog and sell the products of her upcoming bakery, and I need to learn and practice modern Rails. So I'm using this Hack Week to build a modern store using the latest Ruby on Rails best practices, ideally up to the deployment.

    TO DO

    • Index page
    • Product page
    • Admin area -- Supplies calculator based on orders -- Orders notification
    • Authentication
    • Payment
    • Deployment

    Day 1

As my Rails knowledge was pretty outdated and I had 0 experience with Turbo (wich I want to use in the app), I started following a turbo-rails course. I completed 5 of 11 chapters.

    Day 2

Continued the course until chapter 8 and added live updates & an empty state to the app. I should finish the course on day 3 and start my own project with the knowledge from it.

    Hackweek 24

For this Hackweek I'll continue this project, focusing on a Catalog/Calculator for my wife's recipes so she can use for her Café.

Use local/private LLM for semantic knowledge search by digitaltomm

    Description

Use a local LLM, based on SUSE AI (ollama, openwebui) to power geeko search (public instance: https://geeko.port0.org/).

    Goals

Build a SUSE internal instance of https://geeko.port0.org/ that can operate on internal resources, crawling confluence.suse.com, gitlab.suse.de, etc.

    Resources

    Repo: https://github.com/digitaltom/semantic-knowledge-search

    Public instance: https://geeko.port0.org/

    Results

    Internal instance:

I have an internal test instance running which has indexed a couple of internal wiki pages from the SCC team. It's using the ollama (llama3.1:8b) backend of suse-ai.openplatform.suse.com to create embedding vectors for indexed resources and to create a chat response. The semantic search for documents is done with a vector search inside of sqlite, using sqlite-vec.

Implement a full OBS api client in Rust by nbelouin

    Description

I recently started to work on tooling for OBS using rust, to do so I started a Rust create to interact with OBS API, I only implemented a few routes/resources for what I needed. What about making it a full fledged OBS client library.

    Goals

    • Implement more routes/resources
    • Implement a test suite against the actual OBS implementation
    • Bonus: Create an osc like cli in Rust using the library

Research openqa-trigger-from-obs and openqa-trigger-from-ibs-plugin by qwang

    Description

openqa-trigger-from-obs project is a framework that OSD is using it to automatically sync the defined images and repositories from OBS/IBS to its assets for testing. This framework very likely will be used for the synchronize to each location's openqa include openqa.qa2.suse.asia Beijing local procy scc scc-proxy.suse.asia(although it's not a MUST to our testing) it's now rewriting requests to openqa.qa2.suse.asia instead of openqa.suse.de, the assets/repo should be consistent the format Beijing local openQA is maintaining an own script but still need many manually activities when new build comes, and not consistent to OSD, that will request many test code change due to CC network change

    Goals

Research this framework in case it will be re-used for Beijing local openQA, and will need to be setup and maintained by ourselves

Fix RSpec tests in order to replace the ruby-ldap rubygem in OBS by enavarro_suse

    Description

"LDAP mode is not official supported by OBS!". See: config/options.yml.example#L100-L102

However, there is an RSpec file which tests LDAP mode in OBS. These tests use the ruby-ldap rubygem, mocking the results returned by a LDAP server.

The ruby-ldap rubygem seems no longer maintaned, and also prevents from updating to a more recent Ruby version. A good alternative is to replace it with the net-ldap rubygem.

Before replacing the ruby-ldap rubygem, we should modify the tests so the don't mock the responses of a LDAP server. Instead, we should modify the tests and run them against a real LDAP server.

    Goals

    Goals of this project:

    • Modify the RSpec tests and run them against a real LDAP server
    • Replace the net-ldap rubygem with the ruby-ldap rubygem

Achieving the above mentioned goals will:

    • Permit upgrading OBS from Ruby 3.1 to Ruby 3.2
    • Make a step towards officially supporting LDAP in OBS.

Learn obs/ibs sync tool by xlai

    Description

Once images/repo are built from IBS/OBS, there is a tool to sync the image from IBS/OBS to openqa asset directory and trigger openqa jobs accordingly.

    Goals

Check how the tool is implemented, and be capable to add/modify our needed images/repo in future by ourselves.

Resurrect NWS CLI project by seanmarlow

    Project Description

Many years back I created a simple python based CLI package that wrapped the NWS API to get weather forecasts, discussions and current conditions. Meanwhile I have not had time to keep it up-to-date so many pieces are broken or using deprecated features of the REST API. The package is useful to get weather information much quicker from CLI than clicking through the NWS website.

    Goal for this Hackweek

The goal for this project is update and fix the package as well as add new features. Also, the documentation can be updated to be more thorough and useful.

    Project URL: https://github.com/smarlowucf/wxcast

    Tasks

    • [x] Use Github actions instead of travis
    • [x] Move metar to nws api
    • [x] Convert string formatting to use F strings
    • [x] Add get WFO info
    • [x] Get a list of stations for wfo
    • [x] Get station info
    • [x] Fix 7 day forecast
    • [x] Add temp unit option to metar
    • [x] Add alias to metar for decoded version with conditions
    • [x] Add/update documentation
    • [x] Release new major version

OpenQA Golang api client by hilchev

    Description

I would like to make a simple cli tool to communicate with the OpenQA API

    Goals

    • OpenQA has a ton of information that is hard to get via the UI. A tool like this would make my life easier :)
    • Would potentially make it easier in the future to make UI changes without Perl.
    • Improve my Golang skills
