fio is a flexible load generator useful for benchmarking and performance profiling. It offers a pluggable back-end, that supports: - Ceph librbd - Gluster - network sockets - local filesystem I/O - many other libraries, etc.

CephFS and SMB2 workloads can be generated using the local filesystem I/O engine atop a corresponding filesystem mount point with mount.ceph and mount.cifs respectively, but it would still be useful to plumb fio directly into the user-space libcephfs and libsmb2 libraries.
