Metal³ is the idea to support a declarative bare metal cluster management for Kubernates by employing a simplified stand alone version of Ironic.

We should explore if

  • MetalKubed is ready for the metal job
  • MetalKubed fits the Kubernates Cluster API
  • UI options and more ...

The plan

.. is to deploy MetalKubed then use this project to create a new K8s on bare metal and provision additional hosts to the cluster. Validate that it is working and point out areas that are deficient. Extra points for deploying with OpenSUSE and using UI.

The bonus - Prometheus

It looks like it has exporter for Prometheus and it would be nice to push performance data into Prometheus.

      It would be interesting to plan a deployment on some real hardware. Is that part of the plan?

      The idea is to use bare metal as much as possible but also a virtual option is available https://github.com/metal3-io/metal3-dev-env/blob/master/README.md#setup
