  Ebay is your friend if you want lots of parts to play with at low cost. I'll suggest for your consideration - https://www.instructables.com/id/OSTR/ I have two+ instances of the older version of his design (I don't have the printed board so my electronics are hacked) and they are quite versatile and easy to get going. 3D models can be found for printing on Thingiverse.
