The GDK Broadway backend provides support for displaying GTK+ applications in a web browser, using HTML5 and web sockets. broadwayd is a display server for the Broadway GDK backend. It allows multiple GTK+ applications to display their windows in the same web browser, by connecting to broadwayd.

To be enabled, Broadway needs support from GTK+ end and applications end. The hackweek project is to be a general purpose investigation of

- Broadway usability status on openSUSE Leap 42.1
- Broadway security aspect
- Broadway performance aspect
- Broadway interaction with cutting edge web service like Node.js, Go etc.
- Some interesting usage scenario aspects
