Per talk with Libor, there is another interesting task connected with Live Patching, and that's testing of the repository setup. As there is no one used the update mechanism in the way we are going to. Building a proof of concept ahead of time will likely save us headaches later on.

From Libor's POV, the task is to simulate the real repository state some months after SLES 12 GA. That means:

  • the repository must contain more than one kernel release
  • there must be the initial kGraft patche for all the kernels
  • there must be at least two kGraft patches for at least one of the kernels
  • there must be at least one patchinfo requiring all the latest kGraft patches

As a matter of fact, I would like to study and setup the testing repository to perform the POC at Hackweek
